NYC: The staff here at tipmeharder.com recommends three sites for bar jobs in NYC
Village Voice is a specialty paper in the city and their "Help wanted bars/clubs/rest. section is the place to go for bar jobs. (Look under employment subheading and click on bars/clubs/rest.)

Craigslist is very popular in NYC , in fact it was reported in the Media- that other classified outlets have seen a drop in sales due to Craigslist NY.
Click under employment on hospitality/food service and type in the keyword <bartender>.

NYC Bar Works pops up when you do a search for bar jobs- But BE WARNED you can't see any listings unless you register- and if you have the patience to do that- you'll then see that you CANNOT access any listings whatsoever until you pay a fee.
$7.95 for 1 week trial
$19.95 for 1 month
$29.95 for 2 months
I didn't get to see the amount of, or quality of, the listings because I had better things to spend $7 bucks on - but if you venture in write us and let us know if its any good.
NewJersey: the staff here has 2 NJ recommendations
The best source for bar club events is Steppin Out magazine- so it may be a good place to see what bar jobs are available as well - and the listings stay up for 4 weeks.

Also Craigslist New Jersey is always worth a shot

Nationwide
Your best bet is to go to Craigslist.com- If you type the web address in your browser be careful because if you forget the "s" <CraigList.com> it takes you to a porn site :0)
Once at the homepage- realize that the homepage applies to San Francisco, where "Craig" I guess started this whole gig.
So look over to the right and choose the state/town closest to you and click on it- Then go to hospitality jobs and type in the key word <bartender>-
Good luck on your search. Remember the way you look and your personality may be as important to your level of skills when your trying to land a job- so wear one of our shirts to the interview- see the owner do a double take and chuckle and you'll soon be hearing the words, "You're hired".
